AIEOU Response to the US RFI

AIEOU is pleased to share that we have successfully submitted our response to the USA White House Request for Public Input on the AI Action Plan ahead of the official deadline. This work is the result of dedicated collaboration by our authors, including Sara Ratner, Clara Hawking, David Rudd, Julie Foss, Rebecca Pitkin, Mirza Baig, Helen Crompton, Salih Mansur, Aigerim Shilibekova, Jaime Bissa, Naaz Farooqi, Obed Boateng, and Hang Vu. Together, we have produced a document that emphasises the need for ethical and equitable approaches to artificial intelligence in education.

Our submission recognises the essential role of human-centred design in ensuring that AI tools complement rather than replace educators. We advocate for the establishment of coherent legal frameworks so that AI systems are transparent and respectful of learner data. We also encourage greater cross-sector collaboration and professional development so that AI solutions can be implemented responsibly, and we emphasise continuous monitoring to measure whether these technologies truly enhance learning outcomes.

Another key element of our response is the imperative of AI literacy for all members of society, including school leaders, teachers, and policymakers. AI readiness should not be confined to technical experts; it must be woven into educational structures so that future generations can interact confidently and responsibly with advanced technologies. By maintaining this focus on shared knowledge, we aim to nurture an environment in which AI drives genuine innovation and progress while upholding ethical obligations.

We invite readers to examine the attached document for a detailed exploration of these themes and recommendations. We welcome continued dialogue and collaboration on the responsible integration of AI in education, and we look forward to working with colleagues around the world who share our commitment to fairness, innovation, and lasting positive impact.
